Milano Design Week challenges the covid-19: the 2020 edition will be digital

Milan Design Week is one of the most important events in the design and furniture

Every year, in April, Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone transform the city of Milan into the world capital of design.
But also this great event had to give way to the coronavirus, forcing the organizers, to cancel the 2020 edition for security reasons.

The ‘‘good’’ news is the devotion of the Fuorisalone people who, in order to face this new challenge, are preparing an entirely digital edition, from 15 to 21 June: the ‘‘Fuorisalone Digital’’.

Instead of Tortona, Isola and Brera, the video showcase will take care of hosting brands, designers and products from all over the world, including concerts, seminars and exhibitions. While, for the whole month of June, the Fuorisalone Meets platform will be available to companies to organize online presentations by remote, with many tools to facilitate contacts between companies, partners, customers, resellers and selected audiences. Finally a particular attention will go to the Chinese and Japanese market, thanks to the Fuorisalone Japan and Fuorisalone China platforms.

‘‘The common goal’’, explain the organizers, is ‘‘to invent and share new ways of participation and communication’’, which will also be able to accompany future editions of Milano Design Week.

Fuorisalone does not give up and with an enviable spirit of initiative and innovation, it confirms the reason of the Milanese leadership in the sector, preparing for a digitalevent with a global reach.

After all, the 2019 edition had already recorded over 380 thousand presences, with an increase of 12% on 2017 and over 80 thousand posts on the topic in the week concerned, with a volume of interactions around 4 million, confirming a progressive transformation that had already affected the Milan design week, making it every time more “social” and interactive.
