In\u00a0our last post<\/a>\u00a0we have talked about the industrial style referring to the\u00a0\u201cgenius loci\u201d, the \u201cspirit of the places\u201d of Roman antiquity<\/strong>.
\nIf, compared to the industrial style, the reference could appear profane, in the case of the Mediterranean style the comparison is certainly more substantial.<\/p>\n

In fact, in the industrial style the connection with the place is related to the specific function of a space and its past as a \u201cunit\u201d.\u00a0In the case of the Mediterranean style, it is about the very identity of a place in a broader sense.<\/strong>
\nThe Mediterranean style goes beyond the limits of the home, because\u00a0it aims to integrate into a landscape and represent in an architectural and stylistic way a peculiar geography, climate and atmosphere.<\/strong>
\nIt is therefore not a \u201cglobalist\u201d style.
\nOn the contrary, we are facing\u00a0a style that recalls a typical form of construction and furniture of the countries that overlook the Mediterranean<\/strong>: Italy, Spain, Greece, but also the south of the Balkan peninsula and the countries of North Africa such as Morocco.<\/p>\n

Therefore, it is a recognizable style in a fairly large area, which nevertheless\u00a0adapts to the specific place through the details.<\/strong>
\nThe choice of the Mediterranean style is, in some way, a non-choice,\u00a0an anti-individualist choice. It is a way of being and participating in the community to which one belongs, a \u201cchoral staging\u201d<\/strong>, a collective show, generally consisting of low houses with a lot of vegetation.<\/p>\n

ELEMENTS OF THE MEDITERRANEAN STYLE<\/h4>\n

\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\" \"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

In practice, the Mediterranean style\u00a0is usually characterized by white and blue \/ light blue \/ turquoise, often accompanied by ocher<\/strong>.
\nIt conveys a feeling of brightness outside and inside but,\u00a0unlike the minimalist style, the spaces are not usually \u201ccold\u201d<\/strong>.
\nDecoration plays an important and delicate role. A decisive customization cannot be lacking and bright colors are an important complement, but\u00a0the atmosphere should not be overloaded, rude, oppressive either.<\/strong>
\nThe harmony of the elements\u00a0should convey freshness, lightness, a feeling of blissful well-being.<\/strong>
\nAnd it is redundant to reiterate that the environment is typical of marine areas, with\u00a0light colors that help the environment not to absorb heat and reflect light.<\/strong><\/p>\n

AVOID METAL Y PLASTIC, PREFER PREDILIGERE ROUGH STONE, PLASTER AND LIGHT WOOD<\/h4>\n

The characteristic elements, in fact, are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • tiles (in Maoiolica) with cheerful decorations<\/li>\n
  • hand painted ceramics<\/li>\n
  • curtains (in cotton or linen)<\/li>\n
  • colored striped cushions perhaps more vivid<\/li>\n
  • elements in stone and plaster
    \nlarge openings<\/li>\n
  • a patio or living room with wicker chairs<\/li>\n
  • raw light wood tables<\/li>\n
  • trim straw elements<\/li>\n
  • shells and beach objects<\/li>\n
  • Glass bottles<\/li>\n
  • flowers and plants (aromatic)<\/li>\n
  • lanterns and candles (scented)<\/li>\n
  • mirrors, lamps and frames with wrought iron<\/li>\n
  • poorly decorated and quite simple furniture<\/li>\n
  • exposed beams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    A \u201cmaritime\u201d look from which cold and \u201curban\u201d materials such as metal and plastic are forbidden<\/strong>, as much as the dark tones that oppress the environment and the use of a too visible technology as a furniture element.<\/p>\n

    The result will be\u00a0an \u201choliday\u201d atmosphere that, if you are lucky, will be able to accompany you throughout the year.<\/strong>
